My Life Changing Secret

Thank you for making this site anonymous. I have herpes and have been living with this for years. For this reason, I am single and am soon going to be over the child-bearing age. I don’t care. I found out that I can pass this on to my child if I do have a child, and my husband if ever I do get a husband, which is unlikely since I don’t even date now, due to my condition. I got this from a one night stand that happened when I drank too much. The months after changed my life forever. I am crying now, and will need to repost more information another time.

I dont have that condition but i do know quite a few people who do. You shouldnt feel that you have to spend your life alone because of that. There are alot of medications that can controll your conditoion and prevent the spread. Also you can have childern, I have 2 very close friends one that is married with 3 kids and one that has just one kid. If you inform your doctor of your condition there are ways around that. Also Id like to add that both of there partners DO NOT have the condition. If you take what your suppose to and pay attention to your body you really can prevent spreading and live a happy life. Dont give up hope on yourself. There are worse things out there than what you have, I hope you dont take this like im trying to tell you wha to do but you dont deserve to feel how you do. The friend of mine who is married is in her second marraiage with a wonderful man who loves her unconditionally, It was her first husband that gave it to her. She didnt do anything wrong to get it. It can happen to anyone remember that.

I agree!

I have it, too... my ex fiance gave it to me & didn't tell me he had it. That's what I get for having premarital sex, I guess.

I have been told by doctors that I can still have kids & be married if I am careful & take supressive therapy. That is not an ideal way of life, but it's better than feeling you have to be alone. I felt the same way, trust me. I also have not been having the best luck with dating (but not because of HSV). I believe one day a great man will find me & I'll have a family. I also have an ex who's sister-in-law has it & her husband does not. She got it from her ex husband also. She now has a baby with her new husband, who is still HSV free! Her baby is healthy as well. Please, like the other commenter said... don't give up.
