Just found out..

I thought it was a common yeast infection until I noticed some blisters and it was nothing I had felt before. Went to the doctor that day and confirmed the worst. My partner and I had unprotected sex and he said he had been checked out and was fine; I also regularly get tested and I knew I was ok.

I'm really scared and nervous of what will happen. The doctor prescribed me Valtrex. It has been a few days now and today is incredibly painful and it seems to be getting worse rather then better. I told my partner, now ex partner, and that he needs to be checked out too.

At this point I feel disgusted with myself and wondering what and if I can have a normal sex life ever again... I am looking for support groups or someone to talk to. I haven't told anyone except my ex partner and the reality is just starting to sink in..

I can't believe and I'm angry.. If anyone has any advise or information that will help, please leave a comment.

I totally understand what you are going through. I went to the doctor thinking I just had a common yeast infection too and I also got the worst news. The doctor told me it looked like herpes. I was in total shock I have been with the same man for 2 years and before that I had been with the same one for 3 years. I didn't know how to take it, I am still having some issues with it. I was given the same medicine as you and I agree that it made it feel worse first. If you wanna chat let me know!

It is very annoying how people on here say, "I've been with the same partner for ++ years, so I don't know how I got it..." Dude, a VIRGIN who has sex for the 1st time can get this disease! Just because someone has Herpes, doesn't mean they are promiscuous or have several partners in a week or something. It only takes one time with the WRONG partner (an infected one). Please stop feeding into this stigma because it only makes things worse. There are so many people out there who have it & don't know because they are either asymptomatic (no visible signs) or their outbreaks are so small they are unnoticeable or mistaken for something else.

HSV2 OBs are commonly mistaken for ingrown hairs & razor burn. People who shave down there are the ones most susceptible for mistaking an outbreak for razor bumps. Just be aware, about 90% of the adult population in the U.S. has this dang disease. It is truly an epidemic.
