When I was in college I contracted Herpes 2 (Genital Herpes) at 20 years of age. I unfortunately did not have a steady boyfriend in college and was quite promiscuous. I always had my partners wear condoms for vaginal sex so I believe I got it from Oral sex Herpes 1(Cunnilingus). I never noticed a cold sore on any of my partners, but as I have read they could sometimes asymptomatic just like with Herpes 2. When I had my first outbreak at 20 I only had two or three small sores and flu-like symptoms. I Have worked as an RN and I got married at 31 to a wonderful guy who I told I had I have Herpes but have not had not an outbreak in years. We used condoms for years and then we did not use them when we were trying to conceive. I never even had an outbreak during my only pregnancy and birth of my son. After this, I did not have a Herpes outbreak for over 10 years and then had one outbreak which was less severe. This surprised me since I am anxious easily stressed person. Now in my 40's. I have had 3 outbreaks which have seemed more severe, and not sure why? One of the outbreaks was due to after having a vaginal surgery and the other two have been caused by having Laser Hair removal on my labial vaginal area. I just had Laser Hair removal 3 days ago and broke out in tiny pimple like sores with a whitish head.( almost resemble ingrown hairs. I have never seen pictures like my sores. Going to the Gyn to have her evaluate. Know it has to be Herpes, but so different then any other. breakout and painful. Taking Valtrex 2x a day, Epsom salt baths, Trying to keep the area dry using a cool hair dryer after bathing and urinating. I am also taking Lysine supplement 5 tablets 5oomg tablets 2500mg an amino acid known for helping relieve Herpes symptoms daily and eating a diet High in Lysine containing Foods and getting some relief. Herpes really sucks. I hope this info makes you feel like you are not alone and helps you in some way. I hope they find a cure. since 1 out of 10 people female or male is infected some have symptom and some don't and do not know.
